CONVERGENCES, 2015
This series of large scale photo-based images celebrates fallen trees as essential and living parts of our ecosystems. These images of root systems and trunks are composited of close-up photographs, with all extraneous context deleted; they are further altered in the studio by delicately drawing and painting on them. The series metaphorically challenges opposing concepts such as life and death, instead favoring an integrated understanding of life cycles and a sense of deep connection across time and space.
All images: mixed media on archival pigment prints on fine art bamboo or cotton paper.
